Main shaft is an important component of the wind turbine. The main function of main shaft is to transfer drive torque which produced by the wind load acting on the blade to gear boxes, and to transfer other load to the cabin and tower. In this paper, the large-scale wind turbine main shaft was taken as the research object. According to Germanischer Lloyd Guideline for Certification of Wind Turbines, static strength, fatigue life and modal frequency of the main shaft were studied deeply. The research results have provided the foundation for the structural design and optimization of wind turbine main shaft, and have some practical value.Main researches covered in this paper are as follows:①The static strength of main shaft was analyzed. For Simulation of roller bearings, three finite element models of static strength analysis were constructed, roller simulated by deformable element, rigid element, gap element. The optimal solution would be got based on the comparison of analysis results.②Fatigue life of main shaft was analyzed. Based on the Miner's rule, fatigue analysis was constructed. S-N curve and time history was discussed. Fatigue damage of main shaft under fatigue loads was calculated with the method.③The vibration of the main shaft was discussed and researched. According to the basic theory of vibration, vibration equation of main shaft was obtained. Considering the elastic support of bearings, two models of modal analysis were constructed. Compared the analysis results, the impact of elastic support of bearings on the main shaft was researched.④The static strength of swelling sets was discussed. Stress of swelling sets under limit load was calculated by theoretical calculation and finite element analysis respectively. Based on the comparison of computational results, the optimal solution was got and the strength of swelling sets was checked, which provides a reference for engineering design.
