Freestanding Senile Apartment Living Space Design Research

China's endowment is very grim. Our country has ushered in aging society in 20th century, and since the 21st century the number of elderly population is rising at the speed of 3.2% everyyear. Experts predict that the country's aging population will reach the entire population of more than four million 28% by 2050. At this time , China is becoming the elderly population country, ranking first in the world . The large number of old people will bring new requirements and challenges in the living mode for environment.Rapid growth of the population, and the increasing burden of family pension ask for new endowment forms . The traditional family endowment and single social endowment can not provide suitable endowment environment for the aged, the combination is needed. Independent individual endowment elderly apartment mode as a combination of social service and personal pension is nearly seen in our country at present , it is new . While in foreign countries it has widespread. It is the main collection of self-care old people who live in apartments , each unit provides high independent living space and is joined barrier-free design. besides auto trophic lives, people can also enjoy the priority of the community service.This paper based on the actual project which is freestanding old apartment scheme design , it puts forward the related theory of design which is insufficient, and the lack of guidance of space design. Then put off related research. It based on current senile apartment as the main research object, including its environment, service facilities, space composition, residential use and other aspects of the intensive investigation, then summarizes the physiological and psychological characteristics of elderly and life behavior characteristic, and study its architectural design requirement, it also found problems and useful things of apartment and housing, provide the realistic basis for the living space design. Then it discussed living space which is the core part from alzheimer, barrier-free and optimal regulatory aspects, studied the living room, bedroom, toilet and the design of residential space such as the balcony. Finally it brings reflection of the living space design of elderly apartment, according to the research contents before its put forward the improvement plan. The design of old apartment for independent living space has been deepen and guided.
