Research Of Several Issues In The Traffic Design Of Urban Road Intersections

Urban road intersection is the intersection of roads and roads. All kinds of vehicles and pedestrians will gateher, turn and through here,so traffic congestion phenomenon is the most serious that has become a bottleneck function to restrict the entire road transport system play normal roles.The "Traffic Design" concept formed in 1980s and improved greatly in the beginning of this century, it's an important method to solve urban traffic problems in recent years.The thesis focuses on three issues in traffic design of the intersections to solve traffic problems. The main contents concludes the U-turn lane design, road safety design and the coordination design of road greening and traffic safety.The chapter of the U-turn lane design research includes the following contents. Based on lots of the actual investigations, it analyses the operating characteristics of u-turn vechicles and left turn vechiles,and then an vehicle modle involvingthe the left turn vechicles and the U-turn vechicles is established. The model helps find how u-turn vehicles affect capacity of left lane. Finally, considering the experience at home and abroad, the methods to design different types of U-turn lanes are discussed. The chapter of the intersection channelization design problems and improvement analyses the current situation and problems and proposes the improved method of channelization design. Finnaly, the method is applied to the actual cases.The chapter of the coordination design of road greening and traffic safety analyse the functions of road greening, the form of layout, the safety requirements. To solve the current road traffic safety problems in road green design, the improved methods of how to design street trees, the green belt to separate cars, the green belt in road side, traffic island are proposed.
