In recent years,China’s economy has continued to develop rapidly,and the process of urbanization has gradually deepened.The traffic jam causes the travel time to lengthen,increases the vehicle exhaust emission,brings the huge pressure to the urban environment,slows down the urban development speed.Limited by urban land resources,space and funds,it is often not feasible to widen or build new urban roads as a measure to alleviate urban tidal traffic congestion.On the premise of not building and widening urban roads,variable lanes are widely used in cities at home and abroad by changing lane orientation attributes in a certain period of time to make full use of existing road resources and alleviate tidal traffic congestion.Therefore,taking the intersection with tidal traffic flow as the research object,this paper proposes a new type of left-turn-straight variable steering lane,and verifies the effectiveness of the new scheme through simulation analysis.This paper first elaborates the research background and significance of this paper,and explains the research status of variable lane at home and abroad.Then it summarizes the concept,setting status and setting conditions of variable lane.Then,aiming at the problem of existing variable lane,a new type of left-turn-straight alternating variable lane is proposed,which is detailed.Based on the study of the existing variable steering lane,the setting conditions of the new scheme are proposed,the applicability of the new scheme is explained,and the subsidiary settings of the new scheme are elaborated in detail,including traffic signal lights,road marking and marking.The road signs and so on make the new scheme practically operational.Finally,taking the intersection of Hong Kong West Road and Yan’an Third Road in Qingdao as an example,the actual traffic flow of the intersection is adopted,and the VISSIM simulation software is used to set up the variable guiding lane at no intersection,the traditional variable guiding lane and the newly proposed left-turn.-Three alternative schemes of variable steering lane are used for simulation,and the intersection delay is used as the evaluation index to evaluate the three schemes.The results show that the new left-turn-straight alternating variable steering Lane proposed in this paper can more effectively alleviate tidal traffic congestion,and verify the effectiveness of the proposed left-turn-straight alternating variable steering lane.
