Underground architecture is underground space that is developed and exploited and has certain function. In 1991, the Academic Conference concerning urban underground space in Tokyo put forward the idea that the 21st century is the century of exploiting the underground space. Difference of underground architecture from ground architecture in its space medium of rock-soil and the influence of negative traditional notions both result in a fact that safety problems become the primary and main contradiction in development and exploitation of underground architecture. Statistics of Examples of fire at home and abroad show that in the death toll most are caused by smoke harm. Therefore, how to prevent and exhaust fire smoke of underground architecture becomes a problem urgently solved in current research and design practice. However, the problem of preventing and exhausting fire smoke is mostly solved by heating and ventilating discipline. This study attempts to take some measures and methods of preventing and exhausting fire smoke in underground architecture from the angle of underground architecture.First of all, this essay analyzes and combs research on underground architecture and prevention and control of fire smoke, summarizes the underground architectural space attributes, physical properties, chemical properties and the harm of underground architectural fire smoke.Secondly, this essay summarizes principles of preventing and controlling fire smoke of underground architecture through the analysis and research of fire smoke mechanism and movement rules of underground architecture and therefore provide theoretical basis for the solution of the problem.Finally, this subject proposes several compensation measures and methods for underground architecture preventing and exhausting fire smoke with safety principles as guiding ideology, and from the perspective of architecture, namely, the methods of preventing and exhausting fire smoke in architecture space, in evacuating node,in evacuating passageway and controlling source of danger and provides corresponding strategies to prevent the occurrence of underground architectural fire accident from the angle of architecture. In addition, it can provide general guiding principles for the development and utilization of underground structures in the future from the angle of preventing and exhausting fire smoke.
