A Collection of Past Events in Beijing is a series of documents on Beijing by famous writer Zhu Yizun in the period of KangXi, Qing Dynasty. After many years, a new composing was presented to the public in the period of QianLong based on it. That is the Review on a Collection of Past Events in Beijing, which was edited, revised and testified by Yu Minzhong, Ying Lian and other famous dignitaries and writers. Both of them record a huge amount of precious information on history, society, culture etc. in early-middle stage of Qing Dynasty in Beijing. Compared with A Collection of Past Events in Beijing, Review on a Collection of Past Events in Beijing has more sorts and more contents because of its government background. Therefore, the later has the higher value than the former in the field of science research.As literatures on the local history of Beijing in common use, these two books are also precious resources for Chinese classical garden history study. However, there is no systematic research on the structure and content of them. This thesis tries to extract the related contents, and analyze them in present-day view of garden. All cases in both literatures are classified as three categories—royal garden, natural landscape spot, and historical interest. Meanwhile, the comparative analysis of these three categories, especially of the royal garden, is made in this thesis, in expectation of setting a good basis for the further research on the two works, and thus, providing useful experience for the contemporary China park and garden construction.
