As an inexhaustible and efficient energy, solar energy is paid more and more attention in the world. Solar thermal utilization has been the most efficiency and maturest technology in the time. As a wisely used solar thermal equipment, solar air collector is widely used in the fields of building heating, product drying etc.The paper introduced the present research and development trend of solar air collector, and made some improvements in Solar Wall of Canada to develop a novel solar air collector, which had vacuum glass as the covert and punching seams in the absorb. The paper introduced the principle of this collector, explained the design process of transparent covert, collector plate, insulation material and other related components. This article analyzed the novel solar air collector to establish mathematical model in Macro Description Model Method and developed the simulation program by Matlab. After set up the mathematical model, the novel solar air collector was experimented to evaluate the thermal performance and verify the accuracy of the mathematical model. Taking the outlet and inlet temperature and efficiency as the evaluation, the impact of air, cover transmittance rate, absorption rate of the collector plate, collector plate height, equivalent slit diameter and the average slit spacing to the novel solar air collector thermal performance was studied using the simulation method .At last, the conclusion of the paper was: the collector's performance was stable and efficiency, and the outlet temperature is high enough. The novel solar air collector had the potential for promotion and application. The air supply and collector plate height were more obvious for the performance of the collector.
