3D laser scanning technology is a new technology which developed in recent years, through this technique we can obtain 3D contours data of the spatial object and do high-precision 3D inverse modeling, it's efficient, fast and accurate. Laser scanning measurement represented by the non-contact dimensional measurement does not need to touch the measured object, and can be achieved on the test surface measurements without destroying the surface will get a wide range of applications.In the last twenty years many approaches for contact-free measurement techniques for object surfaces and approaches for 3D object reconstruction have been proposed, but often they still require complex and expensive equipment. Not least due to the rapidly increasing number of efficient 3D hardware and software system components, alternative low-cost solutions are in great demand. Therefore, the development and design of low-cost, high-precision three-dimensional scanning system is of great significance.Based on the principle of laser triangulation measurement, I studied some key technologies such as the camera imaging principle and calibration of the measurement system, then propose a low-cost system for 3D data acquisition and fast pairwise surface registration. The system has simple and practical features. To solve this problem, a series of studies has been done, mainly as the follows:1. After referring to the three-dimensional scanning technology of the relevant literature, I have a well understanding with the research principle. After analysis of laser triangulation measurement principle and mathematical model of the camera image, the image coordinate system, camera coordinate system and the relationship between the world coordinate system was derived, the principle of three-dimensional calibration target subject are also been studied.2. After introduce the work principle of the scanning system, I designed the overall system structure. The corresponding hardware and software flow control are also designed to the image acquisition, motion control and precision line laser turntable control system.3. The calibration targets are designed based on the principle of Tsai calibration model. I built a complete experimental system, then the scanning system debugging, so that it can do scan experiment.4. After the installation and adjustment of scanning system, the scanning test on the standard calibration block were completed. Analysis on the model we can get the relative measurement error in the geometric length. Then verify that the measurement system accuracy is less than 0.5 mm.
