The construction of urban landscape, as a part of urban infrastructure, serves the majorsymbol of the coordinated development of a city's economy, society, and ecology. Aninteractive, dialectical and unified relationship exists between the landscape construction andthe social economy. Being an extension of superstructure thoughts, landscape is closely linkedwith the development of culture and economy. Therefore, landscape construction is determinedby the economic and cultural conditions of the time in terms of its progress and growing status. With a panoramic view, the3000years of Chinese landscape history can be generally dividedinto four parts. First, the initial shape of landscape You appeared in the Shang Dynasty(16th-11th century BC). Then, You developed into Yuan in the Qin and Han Dynasties (221BC-220AD). Next, Yuan progressed into another Yuan (different in Chinese Characters) in theTang and Song Dynasties (618-1279AD). Last, the prime of Chinese classical landscapeemerged in the Ming and Qing Dynasties (1644-1911AD). Landscape architecture, during theperiod of social and economic prosperity, reflects the then social conditions and reaches thehistorical height at the same time. The development of economy leads to the emergence andgrowth of landscape and the large-scale development of landscape further promotes theeconomy and culture.The30years of practice since China's reform and opening-up drive has proven that anycity with favorable urban landscape and greening works is able to give its citizens the enjoyableecological benefits and release its enormous social and economic profits. An obvious sign liesin the change of the city's image, the enhancement of the city's attractiveness, the increase oftrade and investment promotion, and the emergence of indirect and general economic profits.Although the great achievements have been got in the field of landscape construction since thereform and opening-up policy, the shortcomings still exist in the perspective of match topeople's living environment and promotion to the economic development. This paper exploresthe current status of China's landscape development and its problems, and puts forward thesuggestions in terms of perfecting the economic impetus of urban landscape along thedevelopment of the society.
