As the important lifeline project, the electric power industry gains much support from the government. In recent years, the state has invested to build a series of great programs, like West-to- East Electricity Transmission Project, the Three Gorges Project, upgrading-power-grids project and so on. In order to meet the requirements of economic development and energy saving,The development trend of transmission net is high voltage, large capacity, multi-loop and compact shape, the load on the tower also constantly increases. With the expansion of Coverage Areas, from the plain to the mountains, from the inland to the coast, the environment becomes more and more complicated. In general,all these lead to higher demand on tower type and material. Aluminum alloy gradually comes into people's sight with excellent structural performance, like light weight, high strength, good corrosion resistance etc. In the hills and mountain area, building transmission tower with high strength aluminum alloy not only can reduce the difficulties of transportation and construction, also can sharply cut the transmission tower's later maintenance costs. The research on high strength aluminum alloy transmission tower can promote our country's technologies level on transmission tower designing, Manufacturing and construction, has the long-term meaning. Consequently, this dissertation presents a thorough study on 7020 T6 high-strength aluminum alloy transmission tower by computer simulation, the main contents are as follows:(1) The Feasibility of High-strength Aluminum Alloy Transmission TowerBuilding 7 groups model from 20m to 80m. Designing the towers with fixed member stress ratio. Contrasting the lateral stiffness of 7020 T6 aluminum alloy transmission tower and Q235 transmission tower with the same types, heights, loads. Taking the terrain conditions of Guizhou province into account, calculating the materials, transportation, installation and maintenance cost of two kinds of tower. Outlining the applicable building height of 7020 T6 aluminum alloy transmission tower.(2) The Type Selection and Optimization of 7020 T6 aluminum alloy Transmission TowerWriting the sections selecting-checking APDL programs for the transmission tower, choosing the lateral stiffness and weights as indexes. Basing on plenty of examples analysis, analyzing the parameters of the space between tower legs, the slope of tower body, the type of braces and the arrangement of diaphragms, putting forward the optimal size parameters and auxiliary material arrangement, providing important reference for the engineering practice Concluding the optimal contour parameters of the 7020 T6 aluminum alloy tower, and providing important references for engineering practice.(3) The Dynamic Characteristics Analysis of Transmission TowerAnalyzing the models of 7020 T6 aluminum alloy transmission tower and Q235 steel transmission tower from 20m to 80m. Comparing the first ten order modes and frequencies, summarizing changing regularity between the towers'weak points and the materials. Comparing the strengthen effects and cost of adding diaphragms and increasing section sizes, presenting the reasonable strengthening means.
