With the rapid development of computer technology, computer aided technology convert from two-dimensional images to three-dimensional images gradually. Besides, design patterns mainly positive interiorly, but its design cycle will last for a long time. As one result of it, the reverse design pattern comes out. The development of machine-vision prompts the rapid development of the reverse design. Structured light measurement is a kind of machine vision which has very high accuracy and very fast measurement speed. Structured light measurement play a huge impact in the industrial, military, medical devices.In this paper, we do the research and development of the reverse system in order to establish CAD\CAM system. According to business requirements on the system, we design and develop the three-dimensional reverse system based on machine vision principles. Measure the surface of dental wax using structured light pattern calibrated it. The calibration process includes internal and external parameters of the camera, light plane parameters and the rotation plane parameters. The mechanical structure and control system module will be designed. We designed the rotation of the measurement system which has two degrees of freedom. In the control module, we used 89C51 microcontroller (MCU) to make the stepper motor rotating. I write a program for MCU with C language. The computer is communicated with by MAX232-chip. The surface of tooth model is measured with industrial cameras and laser-line in the image acquisition module. In the software module, I write software interface programs with the VB language, which controls the MUC and industrial cameras. Data processing is implemented in Matlab software. We extract useful information in the pictures which we collected with the prepared program in Matlab software.Finally, we establish the tooth model that formed by the points with the information extracted and will analyze the system error. The result is very good.
