The fast city development in China generates the improvement of the level in the building construction technology and the scaffolding plays an important role in the building construction. Lots of new scaffolds have been widely used and the new technologies and crafts are emerging as well. Steel tubular scaffold with binding is one of the new types of scaffolds, which is on the basis of the traditional bamboo scaffolding. Compared with the traditional bamboo scaffolding, the steel tubular scaffold with binding used the lightweight steel tube and the special fiber to replace the bamboo and the bamboo strips respectively. The joints composed with the erected spars and the longitudinal spars are tied up by the lashing fiber, which constitute the most important parts of the scaffolding structure. It has the features of light weight, a good and flexible adhibition, it erection and dismantling of convenience, and so on. Steel tubular scaffold with binding used the lightweight steel tube as the structural component has the advantages of traditional bamboo scaffolding and gets rid the shortcomings of bamboo materials, which improve the bearing capacity significantly. However the research on the steel tubular scaffold with binding as a new type of the scaffolds is at the start stage.In this thesis, experimental and theoretical analyses have been carried out for the structural features of steel tubular scaffold with binding. The test on the material of scaffold components, the rotational stiffness of banding joint, the anti-slip test of the joint, the entire scaffold experiment have been conducted in the experimental research and the numerical simulation was developed with commercial finite element software Ansys.The main work of this paper is:1. The performance of the scaffold material has been researched.2. The mechanical properties of the semi-rigid joint in the scaffold have been studied.3. The stability bearing capacity and the failure mode of the scaffolding structural have been analyzed by experimental results such as experimental phenomenon, load-stress curve and load-displacement curve.4. Commercial finite element software Ansys has been adopted to carry out the numerical simulation of the scaffoldings used in experiments and analyze the ultimate bearing capacity and the failure mode of scaffolding structure. Moreover, the results obtained by theoretical analysis were validated by the experimental results.5. According to experimental and theoretical comparison, the influences of scaffolding joint rotational stiffness, cross-brace and connecting tubes have been analyzed.6. Based on the results of experimental study and theoretical analysis, an improved practical calculation formula has been proposed.7. The suggestions on the research have been proposed.
