With the carrying requirement of offshore engineering and large transportation infrastructure, semi-submersible heavy lift vessel's development tend to have the shipping capacity for large cubage, heavy-duty over-long parts or equipments, etc. Also need have sufficient redundancy and flexible operation of the independent power propulsion system to ensure the security of cargo; equipped with an integrated automation system for comprehensive monitoring of the operation of ships and so on. Semi-submersible heavy lift vessel has the special and powerful function based on high-tech requirement and key construction technology. It is hard for design and construction of such vessels with the high-technical requirement. Therefore, at this stage to carry out the research of large multi-functional semi-submersible heavy lift vessel key technologies are great importance.In the thesis, after determining the propulsion power according to owner requirements, think with a variety of loading conditions and the use of large power equipment requirement, then determine the capacity of the ship power system, the number of generators, voltage, grounding method and protection type of the component parameters. The electrical system design to meet with RPS notation requirements, and research the power distribution system with sub-grid structure or the characteristics of ring net, including short-circuit current calculations, relay protection, relay coordination Study, etc. Using the ETAP power system software analyse the system harmonic, take appropriate method to reduce system harmonics, and select the number of pulse frequency devices to meet the requirement of the classification society, and verify the entire system configuration with the real ship.
