As the development of the technology of offshore engineering all around the world, moreand bigger ocean drilling structures are developed. Most of these structures are not easy toinstall and transport. Semi-submersible Transport Lift Vessel (SHTV) can better conquer thiskind of obstacles. The core department of SHTV is Dynamic Positioning System (DPS). DPSis applied to safely and efficiently transport and install the cargos. It is still on the initial stagein our nation and therefore it has a great significance to analyze the DPS performance ofSHTV.This thesis mainly focuses on the research of environmental loads, static and dynamicanalysis of DP capability of the SHTV.The dissertation contains five parts. The first part introduces the background, theresearch situation, and the mode of operation. And the codes of dynamic positioning systemamong famous classification society are contrasted. Later, the basic FMEA of SHTV isanalyzed.The second part is the analysis and calculation of environmental loads. The major part isto discuss the calculation of second order drift wave force. In the dissertation, the near-fieldtheory and recommended equations are associated to calculate it.The third part is to optimally arrange the thrusters and draw the DP capability plots ofdifferent mode operations. The operation modes are divided by completion thrusters and onethruster in different range fail.At last, a numerical model of the whole DP operation system with PID controller andKalman filter is established, and a corresponding dynamic analysis program for DP systemhas been developed. Time-domain and dynamic simulations are carried out by this programwhich is referred to analyze the performance of Semi-submersible Heavy Transport Vesselwith DP system works well, and has a good security performance.This dissertation can provide the reference guide and contribute to the strivingdevelopment of SHTV.
