The target missile which can veritably simulate flight characteristics of the attack missile, is the important equipment in the development and flight test of air-defense weapon. This paper pays attention on design of ballistics, research of control system about glide range-extended target missile, in order to simulate the level trajectory and terminal trajectory of air-to-ground missile.Firstly, the coordinate systems are built, the forces and moments acting on the target missile are analyzed, and then the motion model is got. What's more, the motion in the horizontal plane is got based on some assumptions. According to the real flight characteristic of target missile, a new trajectory consisting of down-Slide phase, approximately level flight phase, diving phase is presented, which improves the height, attack angle and guidance law. Then the submodels for trajectory simulation in the Matlab/Simulink integrated environment are built.Secondly, through the linearization process of rigid body ballistic for the target missile based on disturbance theory, the projectile body transfer functions were derived. Using the transfer function analysis method, the dynamic stability of lengthways free disturbed motion and the maneuverability of body owing to rudder impulse deflection are studied.Finally, the PID control structure of the pitch stabilization loop and of the height control loop are established based on the classical control theory, and the design of control system is completed with the methods of frequency domain analysis. Then, numeric simulation is finished, and proves the rationality of PID control.
