Ship hull structures usually sail in complex and harsh environment. Due to the various kinds of loads and surroundings eroding the hull structures continuously, the strength and functions of hull would be damaged and destroyed.Even more,it would cause the tremendous personal injury and properties loss.So it is necessary for us to take Real-time health monitoring and assess of ship hulls, eliminate potential hazards that may occur, improve the safety performance of navigation. Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG)is a new piece of fiber optic sensors. In addition to small size,immunity to electromagnetic fields and resistance to the harsh corrosive environment, FBG has the advantage that a large number of them can be included in a single fiber.It provides a new way to structural health monitoring for the ship.As a starting point to the ship of the structural health monitoring system components, this paper mainly studied some of the key technologies that FBG in the application of structural health monitoring ship.The paper first described the background and significance of research topics, as well as domestic and foreign ship structural health monitoring technology research trends, proposed the new technology that structural health monitoring of ships based on FBG. Then described the sensing principle of fiber bragg grating and demodulation technique works well.Next, studied the FBG packaging technology and temperature compensation method, experiments result show that the affect of packaging materials and adhesives for the transfer of strain. Next, studied the overall program for structural health monitoring system of the ship, carried out the optimization of sensor configuration, and designed the detection of hull girder bending loads of the ship.In addition,used two FBGs to achieve the detection of Hull girder bending loads.Last, analyzed the hull damage detection technology, respectively, using ansys finite element simulation and experimental test methods with fiber bragg grating achieved a simply supported plate damage detection.Thus,it proposed the method that based on fiber Bragg grating strain sensor of static damage identification, and used BP neural network data analysis to identify the extent of damage. By this verified the fiber Bragg grating structure in recognition of the feasibility of the ship.
