Viscosity is very important in the modern life and scientific production. So more and more measurements of viscosity are developed for meeting the needs . Although there are many measurement methods domestic and foreign, most of them have the same defects. For example: on-line measurement and anti-interference.The aim of the paper is to develop a Torsional vibration measurement of viscosity based on Fiber Bragg Grating. By using dedicated circuitry and sensor ,it can get the viscosity of the fluid through the signal from the FBG and the vibration amplitude of the probe. The probe has a simple structure. The control circuit ,the demodulation circuit and communication circuit composed the circuit module. By the program in the computer ,the system can finish a high-precision measurement.This paper has done a lot of research on the literatures about viscosity. First compared the needs of the viscosity measurement and the performance of the existing instruments. Then designed the torsional vibration measurement of viscosity based on Fiber Bragg Grating. At last designed every module and deduced the relationship between the viscosity and the voltage.With the experiment platform, a lot of experiments have be done to checked if the system was feasible. The relationship between the viscosity and the voltage was also checked and the paper try to found out why the error comes .The results of the experiments shows that the system can easily distinguish different fluid. And the system has a good precision , repeatability and stability .This paper developed a measurement of viscosity based on FBG, and designed the module of the system. By using the experiment platform, some performances of the system were checked. The results of the experiments shows that this measurement is suitable for on-site measuring.
