The floating crane is increasingly becoming larger and more automation, while afast, efficient and redundant ballast system will be a key factor for this type ship.Today, existing large floating crane widely used the traditional ballast pump systemmethod, and it is difficult to meet the needs. In order to achieve rapid transfer ballastwater, a highly efficient, fast, intelligent ballast system must be establish, and one keyis faster, more energy efficient, redundant and reliable ballast piping system. This thesis tracks and understands the international design principles, methods, and direction of development about the floating crane ballast system, and researchesand analyses design principles and equipment configuration of the ballast systems onthe existing floating cranes, and analyzes different design principles andmethods.Again, for large barge-type floating crane's characteristics, this thesispresents a stratification program of ballast tanks and multiplex ballast program, according to the results of multi-program comparison of traditional ballast pumpsystem, multiplex ballast and the stratification program of ballast tanks, etc. Finally, the thesis analyses the multiplex ballast system of the large barge-typefloating crane with optimization analysis method. To obtain the minimum initialinvestment, operation and maintenance costs is the goal with the premise of a seriesof constraints, and establish the mathematical models to calculate the optimum ballastpumps, ballast piping size. The optimize analysis for the transfer piping systems andhydrostatic pressure gravity system is also finished. According to the results, aexample is calculated to obtain optimal results.
