The Research Of A New Portable Ultrasonic Thickness Gage

In the petrochemical industry, equipment and pipe line may be to corrode because of various reasons at runtime. Severely corrosive can even cause explosion, fire and personal casualty. Thickness is an extremely important indexes, which can reflect the corrosion degree and security information of equipment and pipe line. Regular and comprehensive detection, has become a important part of routine safety inspection facility.This topic has researched a new portable ultrasonic thickness gage, whose advantages are small volume, convenient operation, etc. This thickness gage can achieve accurate measurement, automatic compensation and programmable functions. It also can store huge amounts of information and meet the requirements of daily inspection.Firstly, this paper introduces some thickness measurement technologies and ultrasonic thickness measurement technology development, introduces simply various applications of ultrasonic,analyses the principle of ultrasonic pulse echo technique. This article also Introduces the thickness gauge ultrasonic probe and the coupling agent and Shows the system structure of the ultrasonic thickness gauge combined with the function of required to design realize.This paper emphatically analyzes the hardware design and software design of ultrasonic thickness gauge. According to the modular design, hardware including mcu control module, Ultrasonic transmitting module, ultrasonic receiving module, counter module, human-computer interaction module and the power module.Then, using the developed ultrasonic thickness gauge made thickness experiment for seven different thickness of steel test blocks and analyzes the causes of deviations combined experimental data.Finally, combined the RBI (Risk Base Inspection) technology and the standards and specifications of thickness, this paper introduces the testing of 350 wt/a air distillation and vaccum distillation which are in the Petro China Liaoyang petrochemical company refinery. Also analyses the causes and corrosion preventive measures. This paper also points out the improvement areas,and gives corresponding suggestions for subsequent research.
