Presently, cycloid gears are widely applied in horologes, apparatuses and meters. Which own some advantages such as small volume, non-undercutting, steady tran-smission, reliability and so on, so they mainly be applied in some high accuracy side, especially in ordnance and horologe. Modified cycloid gears mainly be used in the Engineering, which currently include three types that water gear, double-circle-arc modified cycloid gear and cycloid pinwheel. Because the double-circle-arc modified cycloid gear is short of systemic theoretical researches, whose meshing performances will be studied in this paper.The machining characteristic of the double-circle-arc modified cycloid gears is that the same modulus and different teeth gears can be used the identical knurling tool to manufacture so as to reduce the tool variety and greatly lessen the finished cost. The transmission characteristics are that:whose contacting profile is the male and fe-male face contact of the arc-face, so the contact area is more bigger and the contact stress is more smaller which result in the more higher transmission ratio; in the process of the transmission, the transmission ratio is constant so the transmission is steady and reliable; the backlash and bottom clearance are more bigger so that the transmission is more flexible; the addendum and dedendum are more smaller, so the clamping stagnation doesn't easily emerge; the tooth thickness of the gear root portion is more wider so that the flexural strength of the dedendum is improved.Firstly, the parameterized mathematical model of the tooth profile is established in this paper. Then,3D models of gears are built based on UG. Secondly, contact properties of gears mainly are studied in this paper. Hertz mode 1 is the primary mathe-matical model of traditional contact problems, which only considers the macroscopic property, thereby judges the satisfiabilityof contact conditions and carries definite preferences and optimizations. Which only emphasis on macroscopic properties, but not takes surface microcosmic properties into account, such as morphologyof contact surfaces and surface roughness. However, the fractal theory has the better research of microcosmic properties of gears'contact problem. From macroscopic view and microcosmic view, the contact strengh of double-circle-arc modified cycloid gears is studied. The fractal theory is used to analyze the meshing contact strengh and the FEM analysis is carried based on UG/NASTRAN. Secondly, the contact fatigue life of gears is analyzed based on FE-safe, and the fatigue life is carried on forecasting. Finally, the dynamics performance is analyzed under the circumstance of ADAMS, and relevant data charts are ectracted to analyze.Through the research of this paper, there will be helpful to the optimization design of gear mechining and manufacturing and provies theoretical basis for the improvement of design efficiency, product quality and reliability in processing and manufacturing. Then, the double-circle-arc modified cycloid gear will be more widely applied in the Gear-driven system of high contact strengh and high life-time.
