The direct drive synchronous generator with variable speed wind turbine(VSWT) looks to further increase with its high efficiency, good reliability and adaptable to the network abnormity. The main work of this paper is digital/analogue simulation modeling of a direct drive synchronous generator with VSWT. It not only exert the advantage of handy modeling and high efficiency with digital simulation, but also it operate more approximate to the transient character of high frequency of the real VSWT than full-digital simulation model, and it is facile to connect it with a real VSWT controller. This work is carried out for the first time in the world. The main content is as follows.1) The primary aspect of wind power simulation technology at present, the main character of digital/analogue simulation and the actuality and trend of wind power in China are introduced.2) Combine with the condition of the digital/analogue simulation center of electric power system, a scheme of the simulation research in the paper is designed.3) The models of VSWT, drive train and synchronous generator are constructed in Hypersim, the models of control and protection system which is for the VSC analogue simulatior is constructed in Simulink, and they are combined to a full-digital simulation model of a direct drive synchronous generator with VSWT. Simulation studies provide control performance and dynamic behavior of this model.4) On this basis, a analog simulation model of the converters has been built with VSC analog simulation installation and it replace the digital one by use of technology of digital/analogue simulation and a digital/analogue simulation modeling of a direct drive synchronous generator with VSWT has been formed. Simulation studies provide its control performance and dynamic behavior under varying wind speed. In addition, the system responses to network fault conditions have been simulated.
