Many ships can be hit by shipboard weapon easily, because of their low speed and poor maneuverability. If the speed of ship can be increased largely, the ship will escape from the hit of currently anti-ship missiles in many countries. And this is also making it more difficult for hit by the torpedo. In order to improve the vitality of ships, speed of ship, South African Navy's MEKO A-200 SAN corvettes use WARP model as propulsion system. WARP model is propulsion system combined waterjet and propeller. MEKO A-200 have made the good progress in the practical application, and have manifested the superiority of propulsion system combined waterjet and propeller. The study on combined propulsion system is an emerging topic jointly, is subject to the people to pay attention.This thesis is titled A Study on Performance of Propulsion Combined Waterjet and Propeller. The main contents include developmental general situation of propulsion combined waterjet and propeller; A study on performance theory of waterjet and propeller; the research on the influence of propeller rotation direction, power ratio of waterjet and propeller, etc.This thesis is based on computer fluid dynamics and numerical simulation of the propulsion combined waterjet and propeller flow field, which is carried out by means of business application software of CFD:Fluent. In order to research the performance of propulsion combined waterjet and propeller, the author adopts the following typical working conditions. First, compare the performance of propulsion combined waterjet and propeller with the performance when waterjet or propeller is used alone. Second, changing the rotation direction of propeller, compare the propulsion system with different propeller rotation direction. Third, simulation of the propulsion system with 5 different waterjet thrust power. Last, changing the relative position of waterjet and propeller, analyze the influence of relative position of waterjet and propeller.The following results can be found through analyzing the calculation:The performance of propeller in propulsion combined waterjet and propeller is better than the performance of propeller working alone. But combined propulsion system has litter influenced for waterjet propulsion. It is almost no change. Performance of the propulsion system is influenced greatly by the propeller rotation. Compared with the propeller inward turning, flow field of propulsion system with the propeller outward turning distribute more evenly. Propulsion performance is better than system with propeller inward turning. Affected by the waterjet propulsion power, performance of propeller propulsion has larger changes. There is almost no change for the propulsion system, by changing the relative position of waterjet and propeller.
