Research On Vertical Greenery Of Urban Lanscape In Nanjing

Affected by human activities, urban environment is interacted from both natural and social aspects, and reflects the transformation and utilization of natural environment. A series of urban problems have become the focal points of urban landscape construction, such as high building density, concentration of population, tight supply of land, air pollution and environment deterioration. Vertical greenery, making large green area in short time with little land taken, is an effective way to expand green space and beautify our living environment at the same time.Dealing with the new development of vertical greenery, this paper combing theory with practice, redefined the application scope and forms of vertical greenery based on space classification, and in this way the stereotype of equaling vertical greenery to climbing greening can be overcome. By site surveying and material collecting of 41 vertical greenery plots in Nanjing, on the basis of theories including landscape ecology, plant community and landscape aesthetics, this paper analyzed the numerical characters of the built green space, researched into the available vertical greenery plant resources, conducted landscape aesthetics analysis of 16 samples using AHP method, and improving advices were also proposed.The main contents and conclusions of this paper were as follows:(1) Through community characters analysis of the 41 plots and plant resources analysis, the noticeable achievements of vertical greenery constructed in Nanjing in resent years could be seen, but some problems were also obvious:limited plant species, constraint of application forms, short of technology innovation, and energy saving system combing greening with building and environment has not evolved.(2) By questionnaire surveying and landscape aesthetics analysis of 16 samples, the results showed the integrated qualities of pergola vertical greenery in Nanjing were generally in well state. Assessment index weights stated vertical greenery was one greening style combing ecological, aesthetic, functional and cultural values together.(3) According to the present vertical greenery condition in Nanjing, this paper classified vertical greenery plants into three groups:vine group, overhanging plant group and dwarf plant group, and based on these groups the available vertical greenery plant resources were studied. Advices and suggestions were given for the general vertical greenery development and specific plots improvement.(4) On the view of the lack of concern about green facade and green roof, especially the new vertical greenery forms such as the green facade with fittings and extensive green roof, some explorations were carried out in the discussion segment.
