Due to the imperfections of its analysis tools, the empirical approach based on the phenomenology is used in the study of asphalt mixture, namely, researching and analyzing all kinds of pavement performance from on the macroscopic aspect by a large number of hypothesis simplified model and the indoor and outdoor experiments. Not only the approach takes a lot of labor, but also the results are poor reproducibility and its variability is bigger, which is not good enough to guide pavement design for meeting traffic requirements. In this paper, aiming the discontinuous characteristics of the asphalt mixture, discrete element method is used to quantitative analysis of the influence of the microscopic parameters of asphalt mixture on macroscopic pavement erformance, which offers a more accurate and detailed basis for the pavement design. The transformation relationship between asphalt mixture and the size and number of the ball unit of discrete element model and ball unit compression molding method are raised based on the asphalt mixture gradation of physical and geometric information. It is a good modeling method for different gradation of the asphalt mixture. The Mechanical simulation experiment of DEM including the parameters of the compressive strength, elastic modulus, Poisson's ratio, Mohr-Coulomb strength and dynamic modulus is founded. Compared with the results of the indoor experiment, the model is proved reliable. The asphalt mixture is regarded as a two-phase composite body of coarse asphalt aggregate and asphalt mortar in this paper. Using the virtual triaxial experiment, skeleton structure and the relationship between macro and micro parameters of asphalt mastic is studied, the design idea of asphalt materials by changing the skeleton structure and microscopic parameters of asphalt mastic is discussed, and the results offer a new method for pavement design。...
