Hydroviscous dynamometer is a new type of dynamometer, using the liquid viscous transmission technology, which can meet the requirements of low speed high torque and high-speed high-power. Liquid viscous transmission is a new type of fluid power technology developed in recent years, which uses the oil film shear function between active and passive film to transfer shear force. It is named as film cutting drive, which is also known as based on Newton's law of friction.Based on the analysis on work principle of hydroviscous dynamometer, the conclusion that the fluid lubrication complied with both Newton's law of friction and Siterry baker curve was obtained. According to the study on the loading mechanism of hydroviscous dynamometer, the load torque formula among a group of friction plate was obtained. In the lubrication theory study of hydroviscous dynamometer, the mathematical model of friction plate was established. The incidence formula between flow of lubrication and transmission torque stationary loading in state of liquid shear was obtained by solving. In the mechanism of film shear drive, the force of oil film was analyzed. The analytical method and mathematical model were introduced briefly, and the factors causing viscosity was analyzed. With respect to the hydraulic systems of dynamometer, the basic requirements of control system and hydraulic system were put forward respectively. The advanced frequency conversion technology was applied in the hydraulic system of dynamometer. The effective output flow required by adjusting hydraulic system was achieved by frequency conversion timing driving quantitative pump, and the effective pressure of lubrication and control system was changed. Ultimately the output torque was controlled.Through the above theoretical analysis, the hydroviscous dynamometer system was obtained. It not only contained hydroviscous dynamometer itself. but vector frequency control system, quantitative pump, pressurized cylinder, power piston and t pressure plate, friction slices group, etc. The mathematical models of every part were established. The dynamic simulation of hydroviscous dynamometer was completed by Simulink in MATLAB, and the relevant simulation graphics was obtained.
