With the continuous development of optical technology, the caliber of photoelectric system is increasing. Because of larger optical aperture, optical telescopes could improve light gathering ability and resolution to observe darker objects at farther distance, identify target details more accurately. In the reflecting telescope, the primary mirror as the main optical component takes an important part. There are many factors that affect the surface accuracy. In addition to processing errors, its own weight and support system will also generate additional mirror error. At the same time, the telescope and theodolite should be located at different location and the pressure on the mirror will continue to change. So mirror's support systems should be improved. To reduce weight and temperature deformation caused by the increasing primary mirror diameter, various solutions have been proposed, such as ways to improve support structure, the development of new lightweight materials.With the development of science& technology and user demand, many new technologies have emerged, such as active optical technology, adaptive optics technology, ultra-thin mirror supporting technologies. The primary mirror that diameter is under 1 meter usually adopt traditional supporting scheme. But for primary mirrors that diameter is more than 500mm should adopt lightweight technology to improve its comprehensive performance. This paper gives a detailed analysis of the side support scheme for the primary mirror that's between 500mm and 1m .For a number of issues often encountered in the side support scheme, this paper proposes analysis and optimization, such as the side location of support points,the existing sloshing of primary mirror ,the acceleration. First of all,the text give the optimization of side support position; then it proposes the improvement of radial support structure; at last it analyzed the affection of deformation by acceleration .
