With the advantages, better adaptability, man-replacement among dangerous environments, less fuel consumption, longer flight time, flexible shift of ground crew, UAV can complete the mission for longer flight time, and as a replacement of the manned aircraft to fulfill some boring and time-consuming mission.A good many advantages of UAV make it's applications increase and the flight environment it is confronted with during mission goes more and more complicated. Current data of UAV flight process and motion status, as well as the planned flightpath, are displayed in simplex way, which could not directly and effectively reflect the whole flight situation or some important information to the operation personnel. The information involves the complete solid profile of the planned new flightpath, and its relation with the landform, with the threatening area, whether within the effective range of the measurement system, whether the payloads on the flightpath could effectively fulfill the mission and so on. Therefore the current flightpath planning system not showing an intuitionistic view may hold potential hazards to the flight safety.In this thesis, a UAV viewing simulation system is designed. Such a system dynamically presents in front of operators the flight data, payload status in forms of graphics, displaying the real-time status of UAV through the complete flight. UAV flying attitude, track, area, geographic knowledge of the interest area are brought out omnidirectionally in 3D.In the viewing simulation system, the function of mission planning is implemented and the planned result will be clearly displayed to the operators from the system. Besides, the collision will be pre-detected along the flight route. Information such as UAV's entry to area will be displayed in real-time and early warned about the fuel level and beyond-effective-measurement-range. The system shows the above mentioned functions to the operators and provides insurance to the flightpath planning of the UAV.The concept of general design of the viewing simulation system is provided in this thesis. Each step through the development of the simulation system infrastructure has been studied. On basis of the simulation system, the function of mission planning is implemented as well as the 3D display of the complete process of route planning. Critical technology problems confronted through the viewing simulation system are described in details.
