The bulkhead structure of the ship is one of the important parts in ship structure. A large number of accidents proved that the failure of bulkhead structural and subsequent with water will cause to some accident, so it is in great significance on the calculation and analys of ultimate strength of the bulkhead structure. The corrugate bulkhead has many advantage such as superiority, resist bending ability, It is usually used in the ship structure and ocean engerneering, espacially in oil tanker or bulk carrier. Compare to the plane bulkhead and stiffened plate bulkhead, the corrugate bulkhead has different structural performance in the ultimate strength, and the research about ultimate strength and optimitical design in bulkheads is especially necessary.This article summarizes are basis in previous work on the corrugate bulkhead, make a detailed calculation and analysis on the ultimate strength, the main work is as follows:Summarize the existing theory about the corrugate bulkhead on the ultimate strength, and derivation the single corrugate bulkhead formula to computate ultimate strength. Compare the computate result with Paik's test data and Paik's formula computate, and determine constrains, load cases and research orientation. Numerical calculation is carried for a corrugated bulkheads taken from anactual ship, separately discuss the influence to the ultimate strength by buckling modes, buttress construction, constrain types, angle of the groove profile, plate thickness and material. Some beneficial conclusions are made according to the above mentioned Abaqus FEM calculations.Derivation the character about cold-bend, bulit-up and the conection above, solve the best thickness by an example. On the basis of optimize module of Ansys, early on an optimal design under the condition of the fixed steel consume and the fixed ultimate strength respectively, to insure that the optimized structure possess better strength performance at the same cost.
