Exploration of offshore oil and gas is becoming an international research hotspot. Flowline connection is an important technology that is widely used in the subsea production system. Various flowline connectors have been installed in actual projects. Collet connector is causing great attention as one type of quick connection technology. This paper researches some core questions about the collet connector depending on national science program.The types and each feature of flowline connectors are introduced in paper. Depending on the work condition of 1500 meters water depth and 34.5MP working pressure, the programs of separate vertical collet connector that used for 6inch and 18inch pipes are designed in the paper. The connector is usually divided as three parts:running tool, connector and receive structure. Dimensions of each part are defined according to its character and function. Some important parts are analysed by using limit element method. And the hydraulic control system is also designed based on the structure.Meal of deep water and high pressure is the key point of connector. This paper has studied the affection elements of seal, and provides a design method of large-size lens gasket. According to the real work condition, a multiple seal program which combines the metal to metal seal and O rings seal is defined. At last, through the simulation of ANSYS soft ware and real high pressure experiment, the structure of flange and gasket is tested. The tolerance of tension, bending and torsion is calculated, and the results can be used for the defence against impaction.
