The steel structure has been the rapid development in recent years because its light weight, high strength, short construction period and other advantages. However, the steel structure mechanical properties will be a serious decline in a short time which lead severe damage when it is hit by fire because of its bad refractory nature, and it will cause huge losses in people's lives and property. Fire resistance design method based on components which is adopted by our country can not simulate the impact of component in the overall structure on the load distribution, size, and end restraint conditions. Therefore fire-resistant of steel frame as a whole has very important practical significance. On the basis of wide-range reading of home and abroad relevant literatures about fire-resistant, fire hazards at home and abroad are looked back, structure fire-resistant present status at home and abroad are discussed and summarized in this paper. This paper making use of ANSYS studies on the temperature distribution and mechanical response of steel framework in fire, which bases on the diathermanous theory and related mechanical knowledge. Structural damage time is obtained, which more truly reflects the structural fire resistance. And analysis results are compared with other relevant literature, and the correctness of the conclusions is further verified. The results show that the beam-column joints of steel frame and plinth is the weak links under fire, and these parts should be strengthened. Research results provide a reference for the structure overall fire resistance and fire-resistant design of steel building.
