With the vigorous development of China's railway business, the demand for railway wheels is increased, and the performance of the wheel also puts forward higher requirements. Whole wheel material belongs to hard processing materials. During the machining process cutting, performance requirements of the contradiction is highlighted especially. In order to ensure production, quality, professional enterprise of train wheel makes full use of existing equipment to improve efficiency and reduces the production cost. It is necessary to improve and optimize wheel machining process.This paper analyzes the structure of the wheel, wheel material and machining characteristics, and provides detailed description of the contradictions of the whole rolling wheel from forging and rolling, rough and fine machining, heating treatment and the whole process. Currently wheel machining process presents problems. It has the conflict between the performance requirements and processing, tool wearing fast and low efficiency. Processing requirements for the whole wheel, using multivariate regression orthogonal experiment method for cutting tests, a computational model of cutting force and roughness is established analysis of the influence of cutting parameters on cutting force three contribute to roughness. The influence of cutting parameters on cutting force three contribute and roughness is analyzed. Through single factor method the paper studies the relations of cutting parameters and tool life, and establishes the wheel processing tool life experience formula. Finally, the whole wheel machining process is designed and improved. With the use of the heating treatment method for improving the performance of cutting wheel, the heating treatment afte rolling r is changed into the slow cooling process, it reduces costs and improves the wheel microstructure. Optimizing of wheel tread quenching technology solves the conflict of the wheel turning and hardness requirements. The optimization of technological parameters is established of material removal rate as the highest target function. Using MATLAB, it optimizes the cutting parameters. Whole wheel machining mechanism is not fully matured. Processing methods are' constantly explored and developed. This article provides a theoretical reference to process wheel with high quality and efficiently.
