The paper based on the idea of the virtual design, simulated the process of the orthodoxy metal cutting through the technology of number imitation which based on the general international large software ANSYS precisely and vividly. With this method, this paper analysised the form of the shearing area and the change process of the stress and strain, and acquired the distribution of the contact load of the cutting tool with which we studied the distribution of the stress of the cutting tool. We carried through some imitation tests with the varying parameters of the cutting tool, through which we optimized the geometry parameter of cutting tool and carried out some studies of other respects. Through this way of the virtual design, we studied the cutting tool of the nano-TiN modified cermets material which was manufactured by the Hefei university of technology, with the problem of geometry parameter of cutting tool as the emphases.
