Recently, the demand of antennas with high gain and low side lobe is increasing especially in deep space detection, satellite remote sense and meteorological measurements etc. As an important part of the antenna for deep space exploration-Beam waveguide, it has been widely used for guiding electromagnetic waves because of its characteristics such as low loss, wide band and easy maintenance. So, research and design of the beam waveguide antenna is important for our deep space exploration.Beam waveguide antenna is composed of Cassegrain antenna, beam waveguide system and horn feed. Feed is the core and indispensable part of beam waveguide antenna, the energy of beam waveguide antenna is obtained by feed radiation. Therefore, feed research has decisive significance on the performance of beam waveguide antenna.Firstly, this paper introduce the basic theory about beam waveguide, Cassegrain antenna, monopulse tracking antenna, various differential mode tracking system is analyzed and compared. The TE11 mode and TE21 mode's far radiation field in circular waveguide are simulated based on MATLAB software and then, the automatic tracking is realized according to TE21 mode null-depth. Secondly, with reading a lot of books and literature of horn feed, we has designed a conical horn antenna of 20dBi gain, a corrugated conical horn antenna with a good pattern, low side lobe and good voltage standing wave coefficient is designed with HFSS10.0 software. Finally, we constructed the monopulse tracking and pointing system on the basis of beam waveguide antenna, and analyzes the error information through the system, derived the coordinate system conversion formula in the reference frame. Through the eventual establishment of a monopulse tracking receiver block diagram, we analysis the phase calibration principle based on mathematical, it provides certain theory basis for monopulse tracking system design theory and engineering implementation.
