Considering the traditional harmonic drive defect, such as poor mesh quality of tooth and low stiffness, inorder to improve bearing capacity of harmonic gear,and design the harmonic drive mechanism. Gear tooth shape, flexspline structure, strength and stiffness was considered as focus points of paperDouble arc gear tooth shape was made as a reference to design the fexspline tooth shape and the circular spline tooth shape, which conjugate the fexspline tooth. Theoretical formulas of strength and stiffness was derived, which as the basis for the structural design of fexspline. Indor to reduce the volume, improve the bearing capacity and stiffness of flexspline, Optimization algorithms was used to make the flexspline structure being optimization.ABAQUS was used to analyse mechanical properties of the harmonic gear, comparison was made between arc tooth and involute tooth, from which find out that the arc tooth is batter than involute tooth in bearing capacity. The deduced formula of fexspline stiffness with simulation results was verified by changing circumstances. A similar profile are usually used as the tooth surface of hob cutters that processing flexspline, which may make error, on this account the surface equation tool tooth was deduced by space conjugate theory. The research results provided theoretical references for improving load capacity of harmonic drive and designing this type of harmonic drive.
