Confronted with grievous shortage on energy and severe damage of environment,exploring highly effective energy technology has become an essential problem for human tostrive. Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC), standing out from various newenergy technologies for its high energy density and low pollution, has been pursued as thefirst choice for energy systems in the future. Bipolar plates, which play a key role in PEMFC,have drawn quite a number of attentions for its material, form of micro-configuration, as wellas making process.This paper presents that we can realize process for the micro-configuration on stainlesssteel bipolar plate with a novel lapping technology, certain eccentric model with fixedabrasives, for the first time. Based on precise researches on the kinetic model during thelapping process, we also validated the feasibility of the project systemically.Second, the brazing method is putted forward for achieving the sequentially fixedlocation of the diamond particles on surface of the lapping plate, and we introduced how toprocess the micro-configuration on surface of stainless steel bipolar plate in detail. Themethod of evaluating the uniformity on the kinematic trajectory in lapping process is used toconfirm the best location model for diamond particles and the best process parameters.Finally, the simulation on the PMEC with Fluent software, we compared variousperformance indexes in PEMFC between conventional serpentine flow field and the fractalflow field presented in this paper. The results show that except lower quality in gas velocitydistribution, fractal flow field is evidently better than the serpentine one in the pressure dropfrom inlet to outlet, fraction of the reacant and water content in the membrane, specially, theaverage current density of fractal flow field is 1.5 times larger than that of serpentine one.
