Many different motors are used in modern industrial production and our daily life, with the developing of the national economy, the demand and the used account of the motors are rapidly growing, and it plays an very important role in industrial and agricustrial production. But the motor are damaged and faulted by the impact of the power network fluctuation and impact load in the actual production process, the national economy is damaged by the phenomena, so it is necessary to research the scientific research task of the intelligent motor protection.we will do this work in this paper.In the next place the significance, the developing situation and the problem of the motor protection is introducend.the mathematical model is founded for various fault character, the protecting theory and arithmetic about the alternating current electro-magnetic motor. Second, the hardware structure of the protector about the motor and the character of the status and problems for the motor characteristics of various faults, the mathematical model was established to discuss the protection of alternating current theory and algorithms. Then the Motor Protection System hardware structure and the characteristics of the ATmega64 Single-Chip Microcomputer are introduced. Finally the I2C field bus and ModBus field bus in the motor protection application are discussed .In this paper, we researded, designed and developeda real-time intelligent motor protection system.PC is upper computer in this system.By the communication network structured by the ModBus field bus connected the motor protection system is used to real-time monitored and controlled.the upper computer monitor the working status and acquire the running parameters, at the same time, it can set the parameters of the system. The motor protection system based on the ATmega64 Single-Chip Microcomputer sampled and measured the three-phase AC of the running motor, the effective value, negative-sequency current and zero sequence current of three-phase AC worked out by the Fourier algorithm are used to control the motor system. We discuss the ATmega64 Single-Chip Microcomputer structure and resource, found the method of the ModBus protocol.Finally,the validity and the practical value of this system is verified by the scientific ex experiments.
