At present, the design of the station facilities is mainly based on "code for metro design", and combined with the peak value of the long-term predicted passenger volume to determine the scale of facility, but it often ignores the dynamic effects of the passenger flows, which led to the station facilities hardly meet the needs of passenger flow condition, so the overall capacity of the facilities affected to give full play. Therefore, in order to achieve the optimal design of transportation facilities, it is necessary to study further the motion rule of passenger flows to fully grasp motion rule of the passenger flows in station facilities. Urban rail transit and fluid has a certain similarity, the possibility of using the fluid mechanics theory to study passenger flow characteristics becoming a problem that needs to be solved. The application of basic fluid mechanics theory in the study of traffic flow theory also makes the introduction of this theory to passenger flows study necessary.By analyzed the similarity of urban rail transit passenger flow and fluid, this paper has raised the concepts of passenger flow continuity hypothesis and the passenger flow pressure P (Facilities pressure), and made a sharp contrast and transformation of the corresponding parameters such as speed, density, flow, pressure, flowing section and so on. This provides theoretical support for the effective application of fluid mechanics theory to the passenger flow study. In this paper, the continuity equation complied with the motion law of the site-side passenger flow, motion differential equation and Bernoulli equation of passenger flow under certain conditions are deduced and validated used fluid mechanics theory. In addition, the paper analyzes the mathematical model combined with the law of passenger flow. By building the combined model of the platform and different staircase width (4m,5m,5.4m,6m,6.4m,7m), this article studies the relationship of the staircase width and the passenger flow speed, speed variation rate, passenger flow pressure (facilities pressure), pressure change rate.The main research results include: the fluid mechanics theory can be applied to the study of urban rail transit through the assumption of certain conditions; the mathematical model obtained by derivation can explain some phenomenon in the movement of passenger flow in essence; the computational analysis of combined model with platform and different staircase width provide a reference for the choice of the site-side staircase width; the "ladder" model of congestion area is proposed through field research on the passenger movement of station platform in Beijing.
