Study Of Contemporary Low-Carbon Urban Landscape Design Based On Traditional Gardening Philosophy

Traditional Chinese garden, as a predominant part of classic culture, has a history of thousands of years for its gardening art. Originating from Shang and Zhou Dynasties, developing in Sui and Tang Dynasties, flourishing in Song and Yuan Dynasties, and maturing in Ming and Qing Dynasties, traditional Chinese gardening developed a school of its own style in the world and is considered as the one of the richest heritages of the world landscape artistic design due to its extensive knowledge and profound scholarship, abundance of rich contents and advanced artistic merit.Temperature is changing with the development of the times and the progress of high-tech. The mankind began to seek corresponding solutions to solve the more and more rigorous global warming problems. The British government first proposed the concept of low-carbon economy in2003and thereafter Copenhagen Conference deepened the low-carbon concept in2009, which contributed to make "low-carbon" the new strategy to solve the global crisis under the new era. In low-carbon era, the contemporary Chinese low-carbon urban landscape design works are labeled with "low-carbon" marks though, both their designs and ideas appear feeble, because many designers lack the comprehensive understanding of the connotation of low-carbon city. There is a long way for the development of low-carbon urban landscape constructions.This essay, under the "low-carbon" background, combines traditional Chinese gardening philosophy which developed with over five thousand years history and culture of China with the contemporary low-carbon urban landscape design, from the perspective of inheriting, promoting and creating and through the study on elements and gardening philosophy of traditional Chinese garden. It points out new ideas of promoting green ecological environment and low-carbon urban landscape construction according to the contemporary development of low-carbon city, and hopes that, with low-carbon concept becoming understood and acknowledged by all circles in the society, it will get back human instinct in construction following the nature by summarizing and refining low-carbon elements contained in traditional Chinese gardening philosophy. This is also the essence that must be inherited and promoted in contemporary low-carbon urban landscape design.This article mainly covers the following aspects:Part1:Introduction.
