As a new structural engineering material, continuous carbon fiber sheet (CFS) has manyadvantages of excellent mechanical strength and deformation property, convenience in use,low weight, non-dimensional increase, and immunity to corrosion. The CFRP-strengtheningtechnique has attracted many researchers and engineers in the world. So far, this CFRP is oneof the high-tech material which is the earliest applied in the civil engineering, the most-wellrounded in the technique and the largest in the amout.Compared with other FRP material, theCFRP is the same with the civil engineering fields. The latest version of the "Design code for strengthening concrete structure "(GB50367-2006) put forward formula of the normal section and inclined section for flexuralcomponents and the cross section of compression members of structure memberstrengthening with CFRP.However, some conclusions worth a deeper study because of theconstruction requirements are general. This article discusses the principle of R.C structures such as the structure of the generalprinciples of reinforcement, reinforcement procedures, strengthening methods and options;then introduces finite element analysis of R.C theory such as the an overview for developmentof reinforced concrete finite element analysis , analysis model, the choice of element type, thestructure relations for material and slip between steel and concrete; then introduces theprinciple of Structure member strengthening with CFRP, and formula of R.C flexural capacityof beams in code. Finally, this article gives a nonlinear simulation of the top beam negative moment andthe beam side surface pasted the CFRP by large scale general purpose finite element softwareABAQUS .Based on the results, it puts forward some ideas of the structural measures to thespecification requirements; also some views of the width and paste layers of CFRP aresuggested expecting to provide some reference value of the strengthening works .
