As advanced methods, SVG is playing more and more important role in daily life and industrial production. There are many advantages, such as improving quality of electric energy, reducting the capacity of the equipment, saving the expenses and so on. Static var generator SVG has the advantages of fast response, dynamic performance is more superior, running a wide range of bit.This paper briefly introduced the study of reactive power compensation in background as well as the domestic and foreign present development situation, comparison of various reactive power compensation device control performance and the design of FPGA process. The second study of reactive current detection method and control algorithm are introduced, a phase-locked loop and PID neural network controller basic theory. We chose FPGA as a SVG device controller, designed FPGA controller design scheme of SVG, and a detailed description of each module to achieve the theoretical basis and realization, finally build the periphery of the main hardware circuit.Finally, using Quartusr II software for the digital phase locked loop and neural PID module of every module of the simulation, and then on the two modules in general are simulated, the simulation results show that: the SVG device can improve the response speed and improve the stability of electric network, to achieve the desired effect.
