With the development of science and technology, the acoustic technology plays a more and more significant role in the exploitation and utilization of marine resources. In waveguide environment, the conventional acoustic signal processing methods are no longer viable due to severe multipath effect. Therefore, it is necessary to develop the advanced acoustic signal processing methods.First, this dissertation introduces the signal model and the processing method of the co-located MIMO and Phased-MIMO based on plane wave model. Since the co-located MIMO can obtain the waveform diversity gain to get virtual array, the co-located MIMO enjoys better performance than the phased-array technique. In waveguide environment, normal modes can model the acoustic channel well, and co-located Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output (MIMO) signal processing scheme can utilize the advantages of diversity to enhance the performance of target detection and estimation. Hence, the purpose of this dissertation is to render the acoustic waveguide channel model effectively integrated into MIMO scheme and achieve better performance of small target detection and estimation.
