With the increasingly rapid growth of electrical load and the increase of long-distance and large capacity transmission demand, thus we ensure the safety and quality of electrical grid equipment is especially important while the pace of grid construction is speeding up. The power transformer as an important power in the electrical equipment, their work performance is special attention, and to ensure the power transformer insulation in good condition, safe and reliable operation, one of the most effective ways to carry out the inspection is the partial discharge testing of power transformers, which is an effective way to test insulation performance. In this paper, research and application of partial discharge frequency power transformer test equipment as the focus for the stable and reliable operation of power transformers to provide prophylactic protection.This paper analyzes the demand of partial discharge frequency power transformer test equipment applications, and compares the advantages and disadvantages of same types of devices at home and abroad. This paper mainly analyzes the power transformer partial discharge frequency equipment, focusing on the analysis of the inverter, transformer, high voltage resistance, etc.; analysis of the principle of power transformers partial discharge test, characterization parameters, wiring and testing procedures; analysis gives complete sets of equipment partial discharge test setting of main technical parameters; and to local discharge test of 500kV three-phase power transformer and 500kV single-phase power transformer as the example, shows the application of variable frequency power supply test results and treatment method of the issues presented.Through the practical application to the different types of power transformers partial discharge test, this paper indicates the design feasibility of technical parameters of the testing device, which demonstrates high reliability, safety, and practicability of this device, therefore this kind of device creates a better social benefits and economic benefits.
