As the improvement of living standards and consumer purchasing power,people's demand on car increase greatly,but on the other hand, the level and the standard of people's aesthetic is in constant enhance.The requirements of car perfonnance,body aesthetics,air dynamics,smoothness,accuracy and surface continuity are very harsh,this needs high quality of body surface.On the other hand, from the view of manufacturing processing,the high quality of car surface can reduce the difficulty of manufacturing processing,shorten processing cycle and reduce manufacturing cost.Therefore,in the early period of body surface modeling,it's necessary to have a inspection,evaluation and optimization on the quality of the surface,in order to establish a body surface with high quality.In order to create high quality automotive body surface,in recent years.in the whole process of automobile development,there is a engineering phase called for Class A Engineering,the key is to detennine if the quality of the surface can meet the requirements of the Class A surface.Based on this,this paper first introduced the modern car design process and computer aided design in the modern car design process,made a detailed introduction of class A surface according to the engineering phase of class A surface in car design process.Secondly,it made a Systematically introduction of the body surface structure technology.points toward strategy,downstream engineering and reverse engineering,made a groundwork for the mainly chapter of the construction of class A surface.Finally,the main research contents in this paper is to do the reverse of the cloud data for the structure of the same car and construct class A surface through Alias and CATIA,wo of today's mainstream software for class A surface construction with two different methods,and summarize the way to build the surface and the way to evaluation used in the two different methods,summarize the general process of class A surface construction,and at the same time make a horizontal comparison of the advantages and disadvantages of the two method in this specific case,The results of the study show that Alias and CATIA have the same modeling ideas which is determined according to the modelling points face strateg,and then,modeling by the way of NURBS (non-uniform rational b-spline curve).but generally the operation of Alias is faster than CATIA.the virtual visual effect is bette;the parameter of CATIA is stronger and more precise.Filling the domestic blank in the research of class A surface.and also provide a reference for the big car makers to choose corresponding methods for class A surface building according to their own product features.
