As a special issue of architecture in the late10years of contemporary society,Experimental architecture keeps great popularity in media and architectural field.However, not only the development and connotation but also the extension andinfluence have not been taken into deeper consideration. As an active and uncertainarchitectural phenomenon, it is a must to take systematic and reasonable researchabout that.The development of experimental architecture is based on the tendency ofglobalization, consumption culture and the historical development context ofarchitecture in recent years. As an innovation motivated by western culture and power,we should attach more attention to the form and essence of this architectural learningprocess and try to define the necessity and character of this issue impersonally andprecisely.In this way, it has been taken further discussion in this thesis paper including thehistorical context, background, motivation, representative individuals, developingmodes, and related works in a developing perspective during the decade of the newcentury. It gives a further analysis of contemporary experimental architects and theircreative works. It also gives fully consideration and comparison of different datumand works of this architectural phenomenon. As a result, the limitation and lagging ofit can be figured out in a long and critical dimension.In conclusion, not only the positive and negative effect of this issue but also themeaning and essence of it will be given to figure out the difference in architecturaland media aspects, including taking out of the outer barrier to catch the innersignificance. It will also give the forecast of the evolution of experimental architecturein China.
