Vehicle information system is a control system used for information collection, information processing, data communication, information display and storage of the information of driving car, the realization of whole system is based on variety of techniques application in the automobile industry. With the progress of science and technology, all kinds of technologies become mature and gradually put into the automotive industry, followed by the vehicle information system becomes more and more perfect. Advanced sensor technology used in automobile electronic instrument make the vehicle information collection more accurately and timely; bus makes data transmission more and more rapidly; digital instrument replaced the previous pointer table display; storage of information of driving car provides evidence for data analysis. Thus, we can understand the development direction of vehicle information system:vehicle information detection more accurate by the advanced vehicle electronic equipment; bus technology is more and more mature as its application in automobile; centralized of information display provided a convenient communication interface for the driver; information storage provides data basis for researchers analysis the automobile driving state. Generally speaking, the vehicle information system has become more intelligent and more digital.This thesis introduced a vehicle information system based on CAN technology, it is designed for the long time running auto. Thesis also explained the design idea and realization way. According to special needs design detection module, collect and process the vehicle information data, use CAN bus send the processed information to the screen display, realized information collection,data communication and data display in a vehicle information system. The main work of this thesis includes: vehicle information detection module design, iCAN protocol application and display module design.The system design of a number of detection module suitable for vehicle environment, study the modern sensor technology application in automobile electronic instrument design and automobile manufacture; the application of CAN bus and the iCAN protocol, has great superiority in stability and reliability of the data communication then other bus; liquid crystal display instead of the traditional mechanical pointer type instrument, provide more convenient and efficient interface for the driver, it has stronger observability. The thesis not only introduced this vehicle information system but also provide design reference for other types of vehicle information system.
