In recent years,the development of China’s urban transportation is very fast andthe urban road network is increasingly dense. With the improvement of people’s livingstandards, the number of motor vehicles increased substantially. How to moreeffectively manage these vehicles under the premise of a higher vehicle population butalso to maintain the normal operation of the urban traffic can be described as the topicsof greatest concern in the community as a whole. At the same time, with the rapiddevelopment of science and technology, the Internet of things as a concept for us is nolonger unfamiliar. In this information age, the most typical applications of the Internetof things is vehicles, the Vehicle Information System is being recognized by more andmore people. Rely on the functions of the Vehicle Information System, we can managethe urban traffic more efficient and provide more high-quality driving experience to thedrivers, and then to meet the different needs of the various populations of the car. Thisarticle proposed a Vehicle Information System Supporting Vehicle Networking as aproject of “Vehicle Information System Supporting Vehicle Networking andDemonstration of Application” in this context, and research focuses on thecommunication functions of the system, the completion of the design and realization ofthe function.The proposed Vehicle Information System Supporting Vehicle Networking mainlyincludes three parts: vehicle platform, server and client. The system’s workflow: thefunctional modules of the vehicle platform which is installed in the car collection thevehicles running data such as video information, audio information, GPS data parsing,CAN bus data, RFID identification information and other real-time data. These datawill be uploaded to the server through the3G module. The server will process thevarious types of data respectively and make the corresponding feedback whennecessary. The client interact with the server through the internet and get the real-timeinformation of the vehicle. The vehicle platform also has functions as voice calls, sendand receive SMS and access to the internet.This paper first introduces the development status of the car and the direction ofsocial demand for automotive electronics applications. Clarify the inevitability of theirdevelopment trends of the vehicle information system as an application of VehicleNetworking, and analysis the development and application status of domestic and foreign vehicle information system. Combined with the3G mobile communicationnetwork construction status and the advantage of ti applied to the vehicle informationsystem, demonstrates the practical significance and application value to study thecommunication function in Vehicle Information System Supporting VehicleNetworking.Secondly, the overall design of the vehicle platform are introduced. The platformuses Samsung S3C6410ARM processor as the central processor of the platform, theembedded Linux operating system. Highlights the Design and Implementation of thesystem communication functions, such as sending and receiving SMS function, makingor receiving a call, PPP dial-up networking capabilities and Socket data transfercapabilities. In this process, the specific analysis and research on key technologies ofthe PDU protocol, PPP protocol and CAN bus has been down.At last, verified the functions of the system, and summarized the results of thevarious studies. Combined with the existing deficiencies and the future direction ofdevelopment, given the late work prospects.
