The coarse grained soils have been applied widely in the earth-rock dams, highways, railways, airports, docks and other reclamation works. The studies on the engineering properties of different coarse grained soils become more and more important. Duncan-Chang model is widely used to analyze the coarse grained soils in engineering calculations. But it still needs to be proved that whether it can reflect the coarse-grained soil's stress-strain characteristics because Duncan-Chang model was proposed for the clay. Duncan-Chang model's parameters influencing factors are discussed in this thesis.By looking for literatures and other information, the mechanical and engineering properties of coarse-grained soil are introduced in this paper. Of course, the theoretical basis of the soil constitutive model and some commonly used constitutive model has also done a certain description. The shear strength parameters and Duncan-Chang model parameters are obtained by10groups of triaxial consolidated-drained and consolidated-undrained shear tests on three different lithologies of coarse grained soil from two projects, and4groups saturated and unsaturated compression tests to the coarse grained soil that of two kinds porosity. The influence of the average particle size, the void ratio, the confining pressure, the clay content, the parent rock nature, the size distribution, the pore water pressure and of the coarse grained soils to the Duncan-Chang model parameters are analyzed, respectively.
