From ancient times to the present, water removal and water conservancy have played a vital role in the development of the national economy and the protection of people's property. The earth-rock dam has a relatively simple structure, low cost, and obvious economic benefits,so it is widely used in water conservancy projects. However, during the construction or operation of earth-rock dams, problems such as dam foundation deformation, dam body settlement and instability will inevitably occur. Therefore,it is very important to study the factors affecting the safe operation of earthrock dams. With the improvement of the design level of modern earth-rock dams, the continuous improvement of construction technology, and the clarification of various management systems, the danger of earth-rock dams and dam-break accidents is becoming less and less;During the initial impoundment, due to the influence of the humidification effect, the dam will have a significant settlement, and the displacement in the vertical and horizontal directions will be greater than when the humidification effect is not considered. This is for the safe operation of the dam It is extremely disadvantageous. If the settlement and cracks are too large, there is a danger of dam break. In order to study the deformation mechanism of earth-rock dams, the main work of this paper is as follows:The study found that when doing conventional triaxial tests of coarse-grained materials, the bias stress on the sample will increase with the increase of confining pressure. The error between the theoretical results and the test results obtained by numerical simulation is about 1%.The single-line method used in this paper for the wet test of coarse aggregates conforms to the law of wet deformation.During the wet test of coarse particles,it was found that under the same confining pressure, with the increase of the humidification stress level, the humidification axial strain and the humidified body strain of the coarse particles increase with an exponential and linear change; At the same stress level,as the confining pressure increases, the humidification axis strain and humidification body strain also increase, showing a linear correlation.According to the results of the coarse-grain humidification test, the coarse-grain humidification deformation model formula is established, and the theoretical results obtained by substituting the test variables into the model formula are compared with the test results. The mutation has a higher fitting degree, indicating that the model formula proposed in this paper is reasonable of.The finite element method is used to analyze the earth-rock dam.The numerical simulation results show that when considering the humidification effect, the top of the upstream side of the earth-rock dam during the water storage period is dislocated and broken due to the humidification of the damming material at the bottom. The horizontal displacement also changes;the magnitude of the main stress decreases under consideration of humidification, and tensile stress appears in the changed area.
