Having hot and rainy tropical monsoon climate, Vietnam is located in the south of the Tropic of Cancer. There are six typhoons annually in coastal areas in Vietnam. With the rapid development of national economy, science and technology in recent years, many new high-rise building structures have been constructed in Vietnam. Since the widespread use of lightweight, high strength materials, new high-rise building structures usually has a lighter weight, higher strength and aspect ratio, and lower naturial frequencies of structurial vibration. Therefore, these high-rise buildings become more sensitive to the environment dynamic loads (such as wind, wave, earthquake, etc.). Under the wind-induced vibration effect of the monsoon and typhoon incentives up to six months in Vietnam, the destruction of the tall building and uncomfortable degree of residents living facilities become an increasing phenomenon. To carry out the research about anti-wind and wind-induced vibration control on high-rise building structures in Vietnam has become an urgent and important task. After summarizing the researches on wind-induced vibration control of tall building structures in the world, this paper put the Tuned Liquid Column Damper (TLCD) as the main research paper on the basis of research. Based on Lagrange's Energy method such as the equivalent damping ratio and equivalent linear methods, a simple damper TLCD and Structure-TLCD system dynamics equations of motion have been built in this paper, and the theoretical analysis of vibration problem and dynamic response of variable parameters have been investigated in details aiming to high-rise structures with Tuned Liquid Column Damper. From the engineering point of view, an experimental scaled-model of a high-rise structure with TLCD has been built succesffuly in order to validate the theory results, vibration reduction effects and evaluation method of TLCD damper. Based on dynamic excitation congditions in different groups of scaled model structure with TLCD, the device dynamic response characteristics and the damping effect of the test experiment and completing the theory, this paper has presented design parameters and evaluation methods for high-rise structure-TLCD damping system. It is well shown from theoretical analysis and experimental results comparing Tuned Liquid Damper (TLD) with Tuned Liquid Column Damper (TLCD) that the natural frequency and damping parameters of the Tuned liquid Column Damper is easy to control and has good advantage on vibration reduction. TLCD used in high-rise structures has an optimum damping effect excited by simple harmonic, displace relaxation or pink random signals. The TLCD in tall buildings or high-rise structures and the wind-induced vibration control or earthquake engineering in a wide range of applications can be expected.
