This study in the Caijiachuan basin of loess area of west Shanxi to select a different density, slope, slope position and other locust forest, based on the determination of soil physical properties, layouted continuous soil moisture monitoring system and soil moisture long-term observation points in the experimental area, using statistical and other methods to analysis locust forest soil moisture at different time scales with different time scales as the starting point. The results show that:1) soil moisture content in different soil layers show different variations, and with the physical properties of the soil layers; 2) 2008~2010, soil moisture of locust forests slowly consumed in the study area. That showed expenditure of soil moisture is more than income in the study area, and there was a soil desiccation; 3) real-time dynamic monitoring system of soil moisture showed that 70cm layer of soil moisture the following little affected by the external environment, storm or heavy rainfall on locust forest limited supplement of soil moisture, effect of moderate rain was significantly on supplement of soil moisture; 4) using the exponential smoothing, soil moisture on locust forest were dynamic simulated and predicted, the average prediction accuracy of 96.80%. Results of this study can provide a theoretical basis to management of the artificial locust forest and vegetation restoration in loess area of west Shanxi.
